Rip Van Winkle Flyer
Thank you for your interest in experiencing the Golden Age of Railroading! The Delaware & Ulster Railroad in Arkville, NY has initiated first class train service, combined with superb cuisine in New York State’s legendary Catskill Mountains, and you can be part of the excitement!
The Rip Van Winkle Flyer offers a leisurely rail cruise through one of America’s most picturesque mountain ranges. Desirable amenities abound on this climate controlled, post war, Streamliner train. Lovingly refurbished, it represents the finest group of train cars on the East Coast of the United States.
The trip includes a relaxing two hour and fifteen minute excursion aboard The Rip Van Winkle Flyer, spectacular scenery and a delicious meal. The friendly, service-oriented staff works diligently to create a luxurious, memorable ride. The Flyer is a favorite choice of anyone looking to experience the elegance of yesteryear.
The Flyer does not make regularly scheduled trips. It departs the Arkville Station when a group has initiated service. With a capacity of 125 passengers there is often room onboard for additional guests. We make these seats available to the public on these days only. While we do serve dinner style meals, 99% of the trains depart at 11:00 AM and many of those are mid-week departures.
Menus change seasonally. The meal always includes a beautiful salad and entrées such as Chicken Marsala and Beef Burgundy. There are great side dishes like Roasted New Potatoes and Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables. We also offer a vegetarian option. Desserts range from our homemade Carrot Cake to Chocolate Ganache. Spring water, coffee and tea service is included with each meal. We do not serve alcohol on the train but you are welcome to bring a bottle of wine with you. There is a $5 corking fee.
If you would like to experience the Golden Age of Railroading please choose from the list of available dates. The fare includes the train ride, your meal and taxes. It does not include a gratuity for the wait staff. Please call 607-652-2821 to make your prepaid reservation and to discuss any particulars. Reservations cancelled or changed less than one week prior to departure are not refundable.
In the true style of railroad dinning you will be seated at a table with another individual or group unless you have specifically reserved and paid for a table for two.
Dining Car – $50 per person at a table for two or four.
Observation Car – $65 per person at a table for two or four.
Dome Car – Lower level – $65 per person at a table for four.
Dome Car – Upper Level – $80 per person, $130 per person for a table for two.
